Robert Wood, Artistic Director and Choreographer:
Over the past two decades Robert has inspired professional dancers in Europe, Asia, Oceania and North America to celebrate, perpetuate and advance the art of contemporary dance. A native of New Zealand and long-time resident of New York City, Wood danced with prominent New York contemporary dance-makers David Gordon, Martha Clarke, Donald Byrd and Pearl Lang prior to joining Merce Cunningham and John Cage from 1987-92, and subsequently creating his own dance organization. As a choreographer, his original dance projects – designed to enhance human interaction by stimulating thought and visceral response – contribute to the understanding of culture, humanity and diplomacy in our rapidly changing world.
